Full Dress Rehearsal For Royal Wedding in London

Streets in London were sealed off early in the morning on April 27th so that hundreds of troops from the city’s Wellington and Hyde Park Barracks could hold a full dress rehearsal for the royal wedding along the procession route.

The royal wedding dress rehearsal took place in the wee hours this morning and featured more than 1,000 soldiers, horses, carriages, chaffeured Bentley and RAF flyover.

Participants wore full military dress, but marching bands refrained from playing their instruments as the whole exercise was complete before 6.30am.

The eyes of the world will be on Prince William and Kate Middleton when they begin their journeys to and from Westminster Abbey.

So nothing was left to chance with the dry run in which timings were tested to the second and all armed forces taking part got the chance to practise their role in their service uniforms.

The day began very early – about 2am for those involved.

The bride and groom didn’t attend the dress rehearsal, but they did use a practice Kate for the festivities.

A “pretty brunette” emerged from the exact car that will carry Kate on Friday, prompting cheers from the crowd before they realized it was just her stand in.

Naturally, her double gave no hint as to what the much anticipated wedding dress will look like. She was wearing pants and a black sweater.

The number one goal for the security guards will be to protect the future princess, while still ensuring the public can get a clear view of her.
